As many of you know, I have been making these and giving them away here for quite some time. Everyone says I should sell them. I always reply: “Well, then making them would be work!”. Well, current events have dictated that I try to sell them.
This batch is chicken. Nothing else. No flours or ANYTHING except water used in the process. These are dehydrated chicken, period. Pure protein.
I smoke a whole chicken at 185 +- 5 degrees for 4 to 6 hours (depending on size of chicken) on an electric smoker.
I then peel off the skin and remove any fat. I break it all up, bones and all and put in a pressure cooker with some filtered water for 4 hours.
Then, in small batches, I put into a powerful blender and blend it up into a paste, bones and all.
I put those batches into a Dutch oven and heat. I add water or allow water to evaporate until I get to the correct consistency.
I then cover and let cool enough, so I can load it into an icing flute.
I lay out silicone mats for my food dehydrator.
I put the paste into an icing flute about two cups at a time.
I make, or try to, little O’s because they (O’s) dry more evenly than a blob.
Typically 64 fit per sheet / shelf in my 9 shelf dehydrator.
I then dehydrate for a minimum of 10 hours until fully dry.
Takes about two days for the entire process.
Dogs prefer the O’s when the chicken or turkey is smoked rather than just baked. Guess it tastes more like table scraps.
Seriously, it takes a lot of time to make these.
You cannot find single ingredient dog biscuits anywhere for what I am offering them for (not even double!). More details at my PeppersForParkinsons website
You can also rest assured that your dog is getting a wholesome, safe food that even you or I could live on! (Not for human consumption though please, just sayin’!)
Every penny of every sale will go towards my wife’s Parkinson’s disease fund to save up for her surgery as we have no insurance and she is not eligible for medi-anything.
Thanks for everyone’s support!
